A little something about my art; what am I trying to do?

    April 23, 2014

I am seeking to achieve a skilled and contemporary result using the transparent and luminous qualities of the watercolour medium.

My aim is to produce a loose and expressive painting, lost and found edges and spaces, something evocative and even a bit mysterious. I am not trying to reproduce or illustrate a scene.

I include subtle interactions between the loosely rendered people, manipulate the light and at times exaggerate or distort the depth.

I try to turn ordinary scenes into works that capture the viewer somewhere that may be familiar to them, but leads them to experience it anew.

My works should adorn your environment, draw you in, and change with the light throughout the day and the seasons. They should keep you looking in a way a photo never could. I hope you continue to discover new elements within in them for years to come.
